Seminar Marking Rubric
After 8 weeks of researching and hard work, Room 23 presented there career seminars to the class. I presented mine Tuesday 1st December. My seminar was on Fashion Design, and I was really pleased with my outcome. I presented my information and photos on a power point presentation for starters, then did an interactive activity, which was a fashion design game. The had two minutes to design the dress, then 4 minutes to make it out of newspaper and sellotape. To finish off my seminar I did a quiz.
I think I did extremely well with my presentation.

Stepz
Walking into the hall for the first stepz lesson, everyone looked anxious and rather scared. No one was looking forward to dancing with a boy. But once the music started, and Simon taught us the dances, everyone forgot the first thought of fear and let loose. Now every student looks forward to the Friday lessons and cant wait til the Ball.
All these practices are a lead up to the Year 8 Leavers Social, which we will perform the 9 dances we've learnt.
The Year 8 Leavers Social will be on Wednesday 9th of December, and the decided theme is Glitz and Glam.
Room 23 Chrsitmas Party
With christmas coming up fast and steady, Room 23 students have formed a committee to organise our class End of Year Chrsitams Party. The theme has been decided as Kiwi Christmas, and the food, decorations, dress code, and music will be based on this idea.
The comite includes. Me (Comitee Leader), Lachlan, Tegan, Bailee, Shannon, Leota, Sophie and Danielle Moore. This event will be hld on Tuesday 8th December, but is invitation only.
Careers Day 2009
With the transition to High School only weeks away, Room 3 of Pukekohe Intermediate organised and ran a Year 8 Careers Day. Workers from across the district with exciting jobs travelled to our school on Thursday 19th of November. Each student attended 3 lectures from the employers, 1 for each periodical block (2 periods). The employers gave speeches on how their job works, what their day involves and how to get into their industry.
In my day, I visited Mark Ball the Mayor, Reon Graham Director of Sales at EMI Music, and Sam from Franklin County News.
All speakers were informative, and gave students a clear view of possible career options.

Typing Test
Every week, as part of the Digital Classroom Learning Program, students take the Sense Lang Typing Test to see how many words per minute they can type. After lunch we complete typing tutorials to increase our speed and accuracy.
This is the result for my highest ranking Words Per Minute test.
Highest WPM= 74
Island Style Mufti 2009
After the tragic Tsunami in Samoa, Schools in the Franklin District and broader, participated in the Island Style Mufti. Every student made a donation to the Relief Fund for the Families who have lost lives, loved ones and homes. The students wore Island Style clothes or accessories to school on Friday 20Th November. Most of the pupils from Pukekohe Intermediate took part of this mufti, and many took it upon themselves to dress up authentically. The day was a huge success, and photo's from the local newspaper prove that, with pictures of students in their outfits were taken at every school.
Grease Production
Since the beginning of term 2, students and teachers have been hard at work preparing for the Major Production of Grease. Auditions were done, and rehearsals were almost everyday. Major Production groups, such as Hair and Make-up, Props etc, met every Thursday and made sure our production was a winner for the crowd! Come stage night, everyone was roaring to go and excited about the performance ahead. There were two teams, Team Lightning and Team T-Birds, who both performed one matinee and one night performance each.
I was in the Hair and Make-Up Group with Miss Austin, but did Hair while the others did Make-Up. I worked on main characters like Sandy, Patty, Rizzo and Marty, plus all the company and dancers.
All the performances were definitely crowd pleasers, and the cast had a ball.
Being even a small part of this amazing experience was a great opportunity and we had heaps of fun. I certainly cant wait for another Production!
